Providence Classical School is holding its annual fundraiser to benefit various initiatives at the school this Saturday at Colonial Heritage Golf Club.

The event will include a dinner, silent auction, live auction and raffle.

From now through the evening of the fundraiser, ticket-holders can register to use a new mobile bidding system to view and bid on items that will be available through the silent auction.

Some of the items up for grabs include jewelry, rounds of golf at local courses and a getaway to Staunton that includes overnight accommodations and tickets to the Luray Caverns.

A professional auctioneer will run the live auction, at which 21 different items and experiences will bid on.

Highlights of the live auction include a Tuscan villa rental, a six-bedroom Outer Banks beach house rental for the week of the school’s spring break and a Star Wars poster autographed by George Lucas, Carrie Fischer and Harrison Ford and other members of the cast and crew

The other big ticket prize of the night is a three-night, four-day trip to either New York City, Las Vegas or New Orleans that will include airfare, hotel, meals and entertainment tickets. This prize will be awarded through a raffle and the winner will have the opportunity to choose which location he or she would like to visit.

A maximum of 100 tickets at $100 each will be sold so that raffle entrants can maximize their chances of being picked from a reasonably small pool of ticket-holders.

The money raised at this year’s event will go toward three major purchases for the school: laptop computers for the photography class, lab equipment for the sciences classes and costumes for the drama club.

Guests at the auction will also have the chance to make a donation towards paying for the school’s teachers to attend an upcoming professional development opportunity specifically geared towards teachers at classical schools.

Tickets for the dinner and auction are $50 each and can be purchased by calling the school at 757-565-2900.

This event will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at Colonial Heritage Golf Club.
