Get in the holiday spirit this weekend with Yorktown’s annual Holiday Open House, a two-day event taking place along Main and Ballard streets and Riverwalk Landing.
This autumn tradition kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday with a special extended edition of Yorktown Market Days featuring all the usual in local produce, meat and seafood in addition to baked goods, potted plants, art and holiday decorations.
Several demonstrations and performances are also scheduled for the market, which will last until 3 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be out greeting children on Riverwalk Landing starting at noon, and chef demonstrations featuring holiday favorites will take place throughout the day. Acoustic guitarist Phil Poteat will also be playing.
In addition to the farmers market fun, select stores along the stretch will be participating in special sales and giveaways for visitors looking to take in the decorated shopping district and get a jump on their holiday wish lists.
Participating businesses include Alexander’s Photography, Auntie M’s American Cottage, Ben and Jerry’s/Green Mountain Coffee, Black Dog Gallery, Carrot Tree, Custom House Museum & Gift Shop, Gallery at York Hall, Grace Episcopal Church Book Store, Nancy Thomas Gallery, On the Hill Gallery, Patriot Tours & Provisions, Riverwalk Restaurant, Viccellio Goldsmith, the Watermen’s Museum, Water Street Grille, Yorktown Bookshop and Yorktown Onion.
In addition to special discounts, many stores will also be offering refreshments, live artist demonstrations and raffles.
