A new 250,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market will open its doors today at the Marketplace at Tech Center in Newport News.
The new grocery store will host a ground-breaking ceremony at 8:45 a.m. and will open to the public at 9 a.m.
Inside the Whole Foods Market will be the Oyster Point Pub and Raw Bar with 15 beers on tap, a bakery with artisan breads and items provided by local suppliers throughout the store.
“Whole Foods Market brings a new level of retail to the Peninsula, and we know they will be very successful in this location,” said CEO of W.M. Jordan, John Lawson. “Whole Foods Markets is the gold standard of grocery stores. We have more entertainment and retail offerings in the works, and we anticipate tremendous support from the community for this vibrant new center.”
High turnout is expected for the opening and valet parking will available to customers, as well as additional parking adjacent to the center.
