Cindy Kirschke 2015District 2 residents will again have Cindy Kirschke as their representative on the York County School Board, according to unofficial election results.

Kirschke’s win, which she earned in an uncontested election Tuesday, secures her second four-year term on the board. Her second term will also be her last, as Kirschke told WYDaily she would not seek a third term.

“It is an honor and privilege to represent District 2 on the School Board for a second term,” Kirschke wrote in a statement to WYDaily.

The Virginia Department of Elections shows Kirschke tallied 1,288 votes for 98.4 percent of the vote. Write-in candidates received 21 votes.

District 2 has 6,494 registered voters.

All election results are considered unofficial until a formal results review, which begins Wednesday, is completed and all provisional ballots are counted.

In WYDaily’s questionnaire with candidates, Kirschke identified overcrowding in schools, the achievement gap and using limited resources wisely and efficiently as challenges she would like to see the board tackle over the next four years.
