Williamsburg Christian Academy took down Denbigh Baptist in straight sets during Saturday’s Metro Conference semifinals before falling to Stonebridge School in the championship match later in the day.
In the semifinal match against Denbigh Baptist, Patricia Davie led the Eagles with 24 kills, seven blocks and seven digs en route to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-21 victory.
Anah Taylor added 10 kills and nine digs, while Nicole Musfelt logged 33 assists in the victory.
The Metro Conference championship match was a different story as WCA was overwhelmed by strong play from Stonebridge School, who topped the Eagles 25-3, 25-13, 25-14.
Davie recorded nine kills and seven blocks in the loss, while Musfelt added 16 assists and nine digs. Taylor chipped in seven kills for WCA.
WCA (15-7) will advance to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament Nov. 10. The Eagles will have to wait for the state rankings to be released before knowing who they will play in the tournament.
