The Walsingham Academy girls cross-country team took first place in the Virginia State Catholic Championship Meet at Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News on Tuesday.
Walsingham Academy’s girls finished first overall with 36 team points, which beat second-place Bishop Ireton by 17 points.
The Trojans placed three runners in the top five overall places, including Camryn Mann in first place with a time of 19:21.29. Delaney Riggs finished second overall right behind Mann in a time of 19:21.83. Frankie Riggs took fourth place in a time of 19:44.
Walsingham’s Grace Vidlak took ninth place in 20:26, and Kiely Curran rounded out the scorers in 20th place in a time of 21:02.
In the boys race, Walsingham Academy finished fifth overall with 124 points. The Trojans finished 96 points behind first-place Peninsula Catholic.
Walsingham’s boys were led by Jack Grimson, who finished sixth overall in a time of 16:55. Chris Correll was 21st in a time of 17:55, while Jake Lobash was 27th with a time of 18:03.
Patrick Murphy logged a 32nd-place finish in a time of 18:22, and Cody Carpenter was the final scorer in 46th place in a time of 19:00.
