Martin Panak, of Yorktown, was reunited with his beloved wife in heaven on Oct. 23, 2015, at the age of 87.

He retired from Dominion Virginia Power after almost 40 years of service. His favorite pastime was attending southern gospel music concerts, The Hoppers being his love.

In his younger days Martin enjoyed golf and bowling with his friends at VEPCO. He also liked working with his hands, making treasured gifts for loved ones from stained glass and wood.

Martin was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Panak; mother, Sarah Alice Hooper Panak; beloved wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Carlton Panak; and his son-in-law, David Glenn Newell.

He is survived by his two daughters, Debra Ann Panak and Sandra Panak Newell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at New Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church, 80 Groome Road, Newport News, VA 23601. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at the church. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point.
