Tabb’s volleyball team snapped a nine-match losing streak when the Tigers upset Lafayette 25-21, 25-14, 13-25, 13-25, 15-10 on the road Thursday.
The Tigers won the first two sets by four and 11 points, respectively, before Lafayette battled back. The Rams won the third and fourth sets by 12 points, sending the game into a pivotal fifth set.
Tabb got the better of the Rams in the match-deciding set, overcoming the Rams by five points to complete the road upset.
Abigail Carney led the Tigers with a double-double of 21 assists and 13 digs to go with seven kills and three aces. Ashley Muhich had 18 digs, and Madi Dadez logged eight kills, seven digs two blocks and an ace.
For Lafayette, Abby Oren led the way with a double-double of 19 kills and 16 digs. Kelly Carroll and Abby Goetsch also recorded double-doubles for the Rams. Carroll finished with 15 kills and 13 digs, while Goetsch had 47 assists and 13 digs.
Tabb (3-12) will visit Warhill on Tuesday, while Lafayette (9-9) is hoping to rebound on the road against Bruton Thursday.

Grafton Blows Past York on Senior Night
Grafton made quick work of York 25-14, 25-11, 25-12 at home Thursday during senior night.
The Clippers won all three sets handily, beating the Falcons by 11 points, 14 points and 13 points, respectively.
Seniors Sophia Beaudoin, Rachel Blitt and Kaitlyn Young had standout performances for Grafton. Beaudoin had 12 digs and five kills, Blitt had a team-high 13 kills and Kaitlyn Young added 33 assists and six digs.
Grafton (15-6) will travel to take on Jamestown on Tuesday. Meanwhile, York (1-13) will try to rebound at home against Smithfied on Tuesday.

New Kent Outlasts Warhill in Five Sets
Warhill came up just short during a tough five-set loss on the road against New Kent on Thursday, falling to the Trojans 25-17, 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 17-15.
The Lions and Trojans went back and forth throughout the first four sets, alternating set victories before New Kent forced a fifth set.
Like the four sets prior, the fifth set was tightly contested as both teams continued trading blows. Unfortunately for Warhill, New Kent got the upper hand late in the set and edged the Lions in the fifth set.
Cori Clifton had 24 assists and 11 digs for Warhill, while Nicole Mulligan added 24 kills and 12 digs. Jewel Walters led the team with 28 digs.
Warhill (11-5) has lost two of its last three matches and will host Tabb on Tuesday.

Jamestown Cruises Past Smithfield
The Jamestown volleyball team had no trouble beating Smithfield in straight sets 25-7, 25-7, 25-12 at home Thursday.
Led by Maria Esch’s 17 digs, 10 kills and six aces, the Eagles cruised during all three sets with the third set the closest at 13 points.
Madison Spence had a team-high 24 assists and six digs, while Emma Schriner added 11 kills, five digs and three blocks.
Jamestown (18-2) will look to build on its three-match win streak when it hosts Grafton on Tuesday.

Poquoson Sweeps Bruton
Mental mistakes plagued Bruton’s volleyball team during a 25-16, 25-21, 25-12 road loss against Poquoson on Thursday.
Bruton struggled to find rhythm on offense, playing the Islanders close in the second set but struggling during the first and third sets.
Gabby Calloway posted a double-double for Bruton with 14 kills and 11 digs.
Bruton (5-13) has lost back-to-back matches and will attempt to rebound against Lafayette at home Tuesday.

Walsingham Sweeps Hampton Roads Academy
Walsingham Academy upset Hampton Roads Academy 25-22, 25-23, 25-21 at home Thursday.
The Trojans and Navigators battled through three close sets, but Walsingham took all three en route to the victory.
Walsingham Academy (4-14) will conclude its season at home Tuesday against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Hampton Roads Academy (9-11) will host Greenbrier Christian Academy on the same day.
