Lois Emery Richardson died Oct. 14, 2015 at the age of 72.
She was born in Akron, Ohio on Dec. 23, 1943, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. George Emery. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother still resides in Akron. She completed all her schooling there and attended Akron University for two years. After college she worked as a secretary in the BF Goodrich plant in Akron.
She met and later married Joseph L Richardson, a career Army officer, on Sept. 28, 1968. She began her married life with devotion to family and in full support of her husband’s career. She embraced each new reassignment with a positive attitude and quickly learned how to get re-established at each new post. The family enjoyed stateside assignments at Forts Story, Stewart, Leavenworth, McClellan and Eustis. The most enjoyable overseas posting was to Sydney, Australia.
They had one child, daughter Deborah, who married Mr. Lee Fahringer. They have two wonderful grandchildren, Jonathan and Caroline. Lois enjoyed the times she shared with all of them.
After retirement, Joe and Lois settled down in Williamsburg and called it home for almost 30 years. Lois worked for a time at the Kingsmill Realty sales office as a part-time secretary. She was a member of the Kingsmill Women’s Social Club and was active in the Bible Study group.
