Registration for winter youth basketball leagues through York County Parks, Recreation and Tourism will begin today.
York County’s basketball leagues are open to second- through 12th-grade residents of the county.
Second-grade students will play co-ed basketball together, with boys and girls playing separately starting in the third- and fourth-grade league.
Fifth- and sixth-graders will play together; seventh- and eighth-grade players will play in the same league; and ninth- through 12th-graders will be a separate league.
Practices are scheduled to begin Dec. 5 for the youngest three leagues and Dec. 12 for the oldest two leagues.
Games will begin Jan. 5.
Players are expected to provide non-skid shoes and shorts or pants without zippers or pockets to be worn during practices and games. Parks, Recreation and Tourism will provide a jersey to be used in official games.
York County resident parents may register their first child for $50 and $45 for each additional child. Teams are organized with an emphasis on having siblings play together.
Registration may be completed at the Parks, Recreation and Tourism office, by mail or online at the York County website. To register in-person or by mail, guardians must complete a York County registration form with all requested information.
