Walsingham Academy snapped an eight-match losing streak by defeating St. Margaret’s at home Friday 25-23, 25-22, 14-25, 25-20.
The Trojans built a 21-9 lead in the first set before St. Margaret’s responded and cut the set to 23-22. Walsingham held on and won two of the final three points to secure the set.
In the second set, both teams went back and forth before Walsingham closed off the set for a 25-22 win.
Leading 2-0, Walsingham dropped its only set of the evening as St. Margaret’s opened on a 5-0 run and didn’t look back en route to a 25-14 victory.
Walsingham got down four points in the fourth set, but battled back to knot the set at 8-8. The Trojans kept battling and, with a 24-20 lead, scored the match-winning point.
Walsingham (3-11) will host Cape Henry on Tuesday.
