Williamsburg Montessori School celebrated the opening of its new satellite campus on Richmond Road last week.

The new Williamsburg Montessori School campus is located at 800 Richmond Road in the former Suter’s Handcrafted Furniture building.

Use of the building for the school was approved by the Williamsburg City Council in July.

To celebrate the opening of the new campus, City of Williamsburg officials including Mayor Clyde Haulman and Vice Mayor Paul Freiling were on hand to partake in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Also present at the ceremony were City of Williamsburg Councilwoman Judith Knudson, City Manager Marvin Collins and Economic Development Director Michele Dewitt.

Those in attendance were treated to a tour of the new campus and enjoyed refreshments following the ribbon cutting.

The new Williamsburg Montessori School campus will be limited to 60 students for the 2015-16 school year to make sure the school’s new location does not significantly affect¬†traffic on Richmond Road. That number could increase to 70 for the 2016-17 school year if no major issues arise.

Students in upper elementary and middle school programs at Williamsburg Montessori School campuses located on Scotland Street and Penniman Road in the City of Williamsburg will now attend classes at the new Richmond Road location.

Williamsburg Montessori School will still operate its campus on Longhill Road in James City County.
