Yorktown Market Days is extending its hours and its offerings Saturday for the annual Fall Festival.
The weekly farmers market, which takes places Saturdays in May through December at Riverwalk Landing, is in its ninth year and has grown to include more than 30 different vendors weekly.
The Fall Festival is a special edition of the market’s offerings and will include face painting, children’s activities, hayrides, chef cooking demonstrations and live musical entertainment courtesy of the Runaway String Band, a Williamsburg-based bluegrass ensemble.
The Fall Festival will also include the regular market’s full compliment of fresh produce, seafood, eggs, meat, breads and baked goods. Shoppers can also peruse some of the market’s specialty items, including coffee, jams and gluten-free products. Pumpkins, gourds and fall mums will round out the seasonal offerings at the festival.
Shoppers can head over for their pick of the food selection as early as 9 a.m., but the festivities really get underway when Runaway String Band takes the stage at 10 a.m. and the chef’s demonstrations from the culinary masterminds from Riverwalk Restaurant get underway at 10:30 a.m.
The event’s kid-friendly offerings kick off at 11 a.m. with the hayride, children’s inflatable crawl and other family-fun activities.
The Yorktown Market Days Fall Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
