As the outgoing chairman of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance, Carl Lum officially handed over the reins last week.
Lum, park president of Busch Gardens Williamsburg, handed over the leadership gavel to Leigh Houghland, a senior vice president and regional commercial loan officer for Chesapeake Bank.
The Alliance, led by President and CEO Karen Riordan, represents more than 800 businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions in the Greater Williamsburg area.
In addition to bestowing the leadership gavel on the new chairman, the membership also recognized new officers and members of the board at the annual meeting Sept. 17.
Kevin Jones, the president of King’s Creek Plantation, will serve as the board’s vice chairman for the coming year, while Adam Steely, co-owner of the Blue Talon Bistro is the organization’s new treasurer.
New members include Cheri Green, vice president of Old Point National Bank; Randy Casey-Rutland, New Town; Chris Kerner, account executive at A Logo For You, Inc.; and Christina Carroll, senior associate director of the Muscarelle Museum of Art.
Additionally, the Alliance bid farewell to retiring board members, including Marshall Warner, executive vice president of Chesapeake Bank; Robert J. Singley, president of RJS & Associates Inc; Charles Martino, gerontologist at Gerontecture LLC; John Moorman, consultant at Dominion Library Associates LLC.
The new board will continue to further the Alliance’s mission of advocating for and promoting networking and collaboration opportunities in the Historic Triangle that lead to the continued development of the area as a world-class place to live, work and vacation.
