Spoke & ArtThe international UCI World Cycling Road Races are coming to Richmond next week and Williamsburg Fall Arts is getting in on the action with its inaugural “Spoke & Art” festival.

The weeklong event will be centered around a pop-up tented sports bar called “The HandleBar” on the lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.

Large-screen televisions at The HandleBar will be screening the races daily, with a variety of food and beverages from The Carrot Tree available for purchase.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The HandleBar will also feature a gallery of sports-related art objects, including paintings, photos and sculptures. John Lee Matney of the Linda Matney Art Gallery has curated this collection of cycling-inspired artwork.

In addition to the daily offerings at The HandleBar, Spoke & Art also includes several special events taking place throughout the week.

Monday

The DoG Street Pub Running Club is inviting the public to attend the “Bike. Walk. Run.” 5K. from 5 to 9 p.m. This special meeting of the weekly club will include live music in addition to food and drinks from DoG Street Pub.

Tuesday

Head over to the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg for “Yoga on the Lawn” from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Instructors from Iron-Bound Gym will present this free class, so grab your mat and get zen.

Movers and shakers in the Historic Triangle won’t want to miss the Spoke & Art “Business-to-Business” event on the lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. The Williamsburg Economic Development Authority will be hosting the party and covering guests’ first free drink, so head on over between 5 and 9 p.m. to mix and mingle.

Wednesday

On Wednesday night, The HandleBar will host William & Mary Tribe Night. If you’re part of the Tribe family this event is for you. The Dog Street Boys will be playing live music, and food and drink will be available for purchase. This free event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m.

Thursday

Head over to the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg for “Yoga on the Lawn” from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Instructors from Iron-Bound Gym will present this free class, so grab your mat and get zen.

Williamsburg Community Night will take over The HandleBar from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Locals can head over to meet City Manager Marvin Collins and chat with City Council members in a relaxed, laid-back setting. Good Shot Judy will be setting the mood with live music, and food and drink will be available for purchase. Admission is free.

Saturday

The Williamsburg Plein Air show will feature artists painting the regions most beautiful scenery out in the open air. Come out to enjoy watching the painting starting at 10 a.m., or stop by the lawn in front of the Art Museums at Colonial Williamsburg after 3 p.m. to purchase one of the works of art. You can even get in on the action yourself if you bring your own materials.
