Field Hockey Roundup: Keller Scores Four Times During York Win

York high falcons logoJordyn Keller scored four second-half goals during York’s 6-0 road win against New Kent on Monday.

York scored the lone first half goal thanks to Hanna Angel, who finished her shot off an assist from Keller.

With York holding a 1-0 advantage, Keller got into a scoring rhythm in the second half.

Keller scored four consecutive goals coming off assists from Cameron Clements, Bentley Zabicki, Kristen Jacoby and Taylor Salyers. With the Falcons leading 5-0, Clements found the back of the cage off a Sarah Farrell assist to the game’s final goal.

The Falcons (3-2) will host Warhill at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

Bruton Shut Out by Smithfield

The Bruton offense had trouble finding the back of the cage, while the Panthers struggled to score during a 4-0 road loss against Smithfield on Monday.

Smithfield got on the board three times during the firstĀ half off goals from Libby Darden, Madeline Gricksen and Emma Claire.

While the Packers kept pressure on the Panthers, Bruton goalkeeper Maysen Elliot kept the game from spiraling out of control with seven saves during the game.

Smithfield’s Skylar Hedgepeth added a late goal with 45 seconds left in the second half for the game’s final score.

The Panthers (2-2) will look to rebound against Grafton at home Thursday.

Warhill Routs Hopewell

Warhill’s field hockey team cruised past Hopewell 7-1 on the road Monday.

The Lions (2-0) have started their season outscoring opponents by a margin of 13-1.

Warhill will look to continue its hot start when the Lions travel to take on York at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.
