York high falcons logoThree Historic Triangle teams — York, Jamestown and Lafayette — competed in the 2015 Falcon Invitational Field Hockey Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The host York Falcons finished the tournament in second place, losing to Mountain View 4-2 in the championship game Saturday.

Jamestown had the best result of the Historic Triangle schools on day one of the tournament, playing to a 2-2 draw against Woodside, which finished the tournament in third place.

Lafayette lost a tough 1-0 game to Bishop Sullivan, while Mountain View topped York 2-0 on the opening day of play.

The Rams managed to keep their tournament hopes alive by shutting out Woodside in a 0-0 draw, while Jamestown dropped its first game of the tournament to Bishop Sullivan 2-0.

The two teams then went head-to-head later that day with the Rams getting the better of the Eagles during a 3-0 win. The Rams (2-1-1) finished the tournament with a win, loss and draw.

Later that day, Jamestown won during 6-0 blowout against Northumberland. The Eagles (2-3-1) finished the tournament with one win, two losses and a draw.

York (2-2) was the only local team to advance to the final round of play after Woodside 4-1 and Northumberland 7-0 on Saturday.

In the championship game, York was edged by Mountain View 4-2 to earn runner-up honors, while Woodside topped Bishop Sullivan 1-0 in the consolation game.

York will travel to New Kent on Monday, Jamestown will visit Tabb on Tuesday and Lafayette will play at Northumberland on Monday.
