Williamsburg Police arrested a man suspected of assaulting a jogger Monday.
Christopher Parris Cabral, 31, of Williamsburg, faces several assault charges and is being held without bond at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
A woman, who is in her mid-20s, reported she was running along the 3000 block of Richmond Road around 6 a.m. Monday when a large, tall white man grabbed her from behind.
She began fighting back, avoiding the man’s attempts to shock her with a stun gun, according to a news release from the Williamsburg Police. The woman said he ordered her to be quiet and told her he only wanted money.
The woman eventually broke away, and the suspect fled on foot toward Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant, police said.
A James City County Police officer found Cabral, who matched the description provided by the victim, in a black pickup truck in the Captain George’s parking lot.
The woman, who suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment, identified Cabral as her attacker.
During a search of Cabral’s car, marijuana was found, police said.
Cabral is charged with assault, strangulation, malicious wounding, abduction, attempted robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated sexual battery and possession of marijuana.
