Charles L. Jenkins, of Williamsburg, died on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Metcalf Jenkins; brother, Larry W. Jenkins and his wife Dana; children, Kerri Jenkins Rhodes and her husband Taylor, Brian Jenkins and his wife Michelle and Traci Jenkins Fairheart and her husband Rusty; and incredible grandchildren, Taylor Jr., Abby, Blair, Jack, Emma Rose and Bailey.

Charlie was an alumni of the University of Richmond and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 2005 after 37 years. He was a volunteer and a captain of Bennett’s Creek Rescue Squad, was active in youth baseball and loved playing golf with his family and friends.

A visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donate Life America to support those awaiting organ donations and to Little League Baseball’s Pitch in for Baseball Program that provides new and used baseball and softball equipment to under served and devastated areas, 1901 Pennsylvania Ave., Fort Washington, PA 19034.
