Investigators are asking the public’s help in finding the driver involved in a hit-and-run last week.
A man reported to James City County Police he was riding his bicycle northbound along the 2200 block of Jolly Pond Road around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle – described as a light blue Ford Ranger pickup truck from the late 1980s or early ‘90s – struck him from behind.
The cyclist said the driver stopped, exited his truck, and asked him if he was all right, according to the police report. The driver then told the cyclist he was going back to his truck to retrieve his cell phone, but instead drove away.
The cyclist – who suffered a laceration to his left temple and minor scrapes to his hands, arms and legs – was able to retrieve his own cell phone to call 911.
The driver is described as a white male in his 30s with short hair and light facial hair who is about 180 pounds and between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall.
