Fourth of July may be over, but those wishing to continue celebrating all things patriotic this summer can catch the Military Band Concert Series at Yorktown throughout the month of August.

Riverwalk Landing is partnering with the Celebrate Yorktown Committee, the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center at Yorktown, the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, the Naval Weapons Station Yorktown and the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band of Ft. Eustis to put on a series of spirited concerts on Tuesdays from Aug. 4 through 25.

In addition to the regular Tuesday shows, the U.S. Fleet Forces Band from Norfolk will be performing on Aug. 5 to commemorate The Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown’s 97th anniversary.

The first show, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5 on the performance stage overlooking the York River, will feature the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Band. This all-volunteer band boasts an extensive repertoire of marches and hymns.

The next show is the Wednesday night performance by the U.S. Fleet Forces Band, after which the normal Tuesday night schedule resumes for the remainder of the series.

On Aug. 11, the Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble will be performing jazz, blues and funk covers spanning 70 years of American music.

The following week, The Blue Aces take the stage to perform its unique blend of high energy all-American popular music.

The TRADOC Jazz Combo will finish out the series on Aug. 25 with its lineup of classics, blues, soul and contemporary music

All concerts are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs for seating. A complete schedule and information about parking can be found here.
