Katherine Goff Morgan, of Yorktown, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the age of 85.
Katherine was born in Newport News in 1930 and resided in Yorktown since 1975. She graduated from Warwick High School in 1947 and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 30 years. She retired as an administrative officer from Fort Monroe in 1989.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husbands, Jim Goff and Frank Morgan; sister, Virginia William;s and grandson, Ernest Miller.
She is survived by her son, Doug Wells, of Hampton; daughter, Sondra Miller, of Franklin, North Carolina; grandsons, Eric and Kyle Wells; granddaughter, Stephanie Riley; great-grandsons, Frankie Espada and Jordan and Christian Snead; brother-in-law, Jack Williams; nephews, Tom and Jay Williams; and special friends, Celesta Hogge, Becky Morrell, Iris Selden, Lena Buchanan, Nancy Farley, Dena Wood, Carolyn Skinner and Helen Simms.
A celebration of Katherine’s homegoing will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, 410 Grafton Drive, Yorktown. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Katherine loved all her friends and they loved her. It was her request that you remember her with love. Our thanks to James River Convalescent Center for their excellent care, especially June, Tina, Princess and Tara. You helped her through a troubling time and she loved you for it.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
