Gary “Goodie” Goodrich, of Yorktown, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. He was 64.

He was a graduate of Bethel High School and worked at Horne Bros. Shipyard in Newport News for many years. Goodie was a member of the Hampton Roads Harley owners group “Hog Chapter” since 2000. He was a proud “certified” Girl Scout leader and loved hunting, fishing and camping.

Goodie was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Hartwell and Mildred Goodman Goodrich.

He is survived by his daughters, Penny Whittaker and husband Travis, of Newport News and Samantha Ann Lowe and husband Richard Jr., of Norfolk; three grandchildren; sisters, Karen G. Smith and husband Dr. Lloyd, of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Susan Adelle Brown and husband Arvin, of Quinton; brother, Kevin T. Goodrich, of Isle of Wight; and the mother of Penny, Estelle Taft.

A celebration of Goodie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A procession will follow to Estelle’s home where family and friends are invited for a reception.

In the spirit of Goodie, “Live To Ride, and Ride To Live.”
