Jamestown senior Jeff Wolons capped off a historic season in which he broke multiple school records by being named Group 4A Player of the Year.
Wolons scored set the Jamestown single-season record with 46 goals this season and scored a Jamestown record seven goals during a March win against Kecoughtan while helping lead the Eagles to a state championship.
Also named to the All-State first team were Wolons’ teammates, midfielder Ben Carper and defender Wilson Coughenour.
Carper played center midfield for the Eagles during the regular season, but was shifted into a center back role for the postseason.
Combined with Coughenour, Jamestown’s defense became increasingly physical and dominating in the postseason. Over their final six games of the season, Jamestown allowed just one goal thanks to the efforts of Coughenour and Carper.
The last Historic Triangle player to earn All-State honors was Tabb junior Derek Cook. An All-Conference and All-Region midfielder, Cook helped lead Tabb to a 7-7-2 record that included a near upset over eventual state champions Jamestown in the Conference 19 semifinals.
