Langley Federal Credit Union donated $15,000 to An Achievable Dream, an organization dedicated to providing academic and social enrichment opportunities with the ultimate goal of ending the cycle of poverty and its effects on educational outcomes.
An Achievable Dream has partnered with Newport News Public Schools to open up two different academies that collectively serve students in grades K-12.
“They are a true asset to the communities they serve-their dedication to helping children learn and succeed regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds has such a positive impact on the lives of children in Hampton Roads,” said Curtis Baker, Senior Vice President at Langley.
The timing of the donation reflects Langley’s support for the many summertime programs that An Achievable Dream has to offer. Intersession courses help students continue learning in the summer months so they are sharp and well-prepared for the coming school year.
This contribution to An Achievable Dream is in line with Langley’s overall commitment to charity projects within the community. As one of the 100 largest credit unions in the country, according to a recent news release, Langley considers it commitment to bettering the Hampton Roads area a cornerstone of its business philosophy.
