JCC Launches Survey to Learn What Citizens Want to See on County Website, Social Media

jcc_new_logoThe James City County Communications Division is holding an online survey this month to get a better feel for what kind of content citizens want to see on the county’s website, cable channel and social media pages.

The survey, available here, asks simple questions about what kind of county-generated content citizens consume and where they go to get it.

“Sometimes we hear people want to hear information in print, or people want it electronically,” said Latara Branch, the public outreach coordinator for the county’s Communications Division. “Of course, social media is taking off. We want to get an idea of who our audience is and how they would prefer we get information to them.”

The county employs eight people in the Communications Division. They include communications specialists, the video team behind the county cable channel and the county’s tourism coordinator.

The division is responsible for writing and designing the content that appears on the county webpage, on the county cable channel and in printed publications like the Destination Recreation magazine and the Citizens Guide to Services.

The division is also responsible for handling requests from the media and disseminating news releases to announce upcoming events.

The survey started Monday and runs through July 17.
