The College of William & Mary’s head volleyball coach Melissa Shelton will be teaching four-day volleyball camps at the Quarterpath Recreation Center.
The Colonial Volleyball Camp, which will be held July 20 to 23, is offered for two different grade divisions.
The Beginner/Intermediate division is for players between grades 3 and 6, while the Advanced Beginner/Advanced division is for older players grades 7 through 12.
Beginner/Intermediate camps will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for four days, while the Advanced Beginner/Advanced camps will take place later in the afternoon, running from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
In previous years, the Colonial Volleyball Camp has drawn between 20 and 25 participants per division. This year, Quarterpath Recreation Center staff members are looking to fill 40 slots per grade division.
Younger players will learn proper passing, serving and setting techniques from Shelton, assistant coaches Monica Marlowe and Audra Harrison and current William & Mary volleyball players.
Older players will learn the same skills as the younger players, but will also delve into blocking strategies and more developed offensive and defensive skills.
Beginner/Intermediate players can register for the camp for $55 per participant, while Advanced Beginner/Advanced players can do so for $75 per player. Registration can be completed in-person at the Quarterpath Recreation Center or over the phone by calling 757-259-3760, and must be completed by July 17.
