Elvis Stojko, a two-time Olympic silver medalist and world champion ice skater, will take the lead in a new holiday-themed ice show set to debut with Christmas Town.
‘Twas That Night will be performed at the Royal Palace Theatre starting Nov. 27. It is based on the 1823 poem A Visit From St. Nicholas by Clement Moore.
The theater’s stage will be converted into a frozen pond, creating what a Busch Gardens news release described as “a nostalgic sense of wonderment.”
“Busch Gardens’ newest live show combines the grace of professional figure skating with cherished Christmas music, original holiday songs and magnificent visuals,” Entertainment Director Bonnie Gilliland said in the release. “Elvis Stojko’s masterful skating techniques and his unbounded creativity are helping us produce an emotionally-charged show that is unlike anything else in our lineup.”
The show is from the same creative team that created London Rocks and Scrooge No More, the two most recent additions to the park’s entertainment portfolio.
Stojko, a Canadian figure skater, won Olympic medals in 1994 and 1998. He also finished as world champion in the 1994, 1995 and 1997 World Figure Skating Championships.
Christmas Town, which converts the park into a holiday-themed wonderland, opens Nov. 27. For the first time, it will extend into January. The last day is scheduled for Jan. 3.
The park also announced a special deal available for Busch Gardens pass members. The park’s website is currently offering a Christmas Town pass for $25, a $10 savings. The price of the pass will climb to $30 on Aug. 1.
Those who do not have a Busch Gardens pass can purchase a Christmas Town Fund Card for $35.
