Police are looking for a suspect accused of abducting two people and forcing them to drive to several banks and withdraw money in the City of Williamsburg.
Maj. Greg Riley with the Williamsburg Police Department said the man and woman, who are both in their 20s, were in the parking lot off Francis and West Duke of Gloucester streets at around 10 p.m. Wednesday when a masked man stopped them and pulled a gun on them.
Riley said the suspect – described as being in his 20s, about 5-foot-9 and wearing all black – forced the two people into their car and demanded they drive him to several banks in the area while he held them at gunpoint.
The people complied and withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from the ATMs of several banks using their debit cards before returning to the parking lot, Riley said.
The suspect then fled on foot with the cash.
Police responded to the call of abduction and robbery at around 11 p.m. Riley said no one was injured during the incident.
Investigators are working to obtain surveillance footage from the banks, and police are asking anyone with information on the suspect to call Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP or the Williamsburg Police Department at 220-2331.
