VDOT Suspending Road Closures for Fourth of July Holiday

WYDaily.com is your source for free news and information in Williamsburg, James City & York Counties.

Most road closures will be lifted around the state during the Fourth of July weekend, when hundreds of Virginians are expected to travel by car.

Lane closures will be lifted on interstates and other major roads from noon Thursday to noon Monday.

High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) restrictions will be lifted on Interstate 64, 264 and 564 on Friday.

The Virginia Department of Transportation suggests drivers heading to Virginia Beach take the I-64 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (MMMBT) as an alternative to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, and motorists driving to the Outer Banks in North Carolina should take the MMMBT, as well.
