Parry Giles Mooney died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at her home in Williamsburg. She was 89.

She was the daughter of George Christopher Giles and Verlie Parry Story Giles. She was born in Lynchburg and resided for many years in Plainfield, New Jersey and Westfield, New Jersey before returning to Virginia in 1984.

She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and Randolph Macon Women’s College, both in Lynchburg. She taught Latin and English at The Hartridge School in Plainfield, New Jersey for 25 years.

She was the wife of Robert J.T. Mooney, who died in 1999.

She is survived by her sister, Louise Buechley, of Bloomington, Indiana. Her sister, John Lee Darst, also of Williamsburg, preceded her in death in 2010. She is also survived by her four children, Parry J. Mooney, of Williamsburg, Charlotte L. Mooney, of Peacham, Vermont, Elizabeth Mooney Bower, of Falls Church and Joseph T. Mooney, of San Antonio and five grandchildren, Ryan P. and Taylor Mooney, Cadence and Hannah Ely-Mooney and Daniel Bower.

Funeral services will be held at a later date in Peacham, Vermont.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Diabetes Foundation or to the Peacham Library are welcome.
