Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-64 Causes Heavy Traffic Near Fort Eustis

Update 4:22 p.m.: All lanes on Interstate 64 are now open. The backup on I-64 West stretches from Fort Eustis Boulevard (exit 250) to Jefferson Avenue (exit 255).

Original Post 4:02 p.m.: Traffic is moving slowly on Interstate 64 West after a tractor-trailer accident earlier in the day near the Fort Eustis Boulevard exit closed both lanes for several hours.

The Virginia Department of Transportation expects significant delays throughout the afternoon as VDOT crews and emergency responders work to clear the accident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m.

A tow truck is currently on scene to remove the tractor-trailer from the road. The right lane is blocked on I-64 West at Fort Eustis Boulevard (exit 250).

Motorists on I-64 West can expect a delay of at least five miles, which as of 4:10 p.m. stretched back to Victory Boulevard in Newport News (exit 256). Eastbound traffic has also slowed, although all lanes are open.
