Deaconess Ada V. Hailey, a longtime resident of Williamsburg, died early Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Envoy of Williamsburg Nursing Center. She was 88.

Her life began on Jan. 19, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Geneva Moore. In 1989, she retired from Eastern State Hospital. Ada’s love for people flowed from her faith in God. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, in Williamsburg, for many years. She served her church as a deaconess and was very active with the Pastor’s Aide, the Senior Choir, the Nurses’ Aide and the Missionary Ministry. Ada loved life and touched the hearts of many people when she prayed for them.

She leaves to treasure her blessed memories her two loving daughters, her two sisters, her grandson and her four great-grandchildren.

Deaconess Hailey may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A homegoing service will be held at noon on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 401 Franklin St., Williamsburg. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
