Gregory Escamilla, of Williamsburg, died June 6, 2015, at his home. He was 78.

Gregory was born on Nov.r 28, 1936, in San Antonio. He joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and served three tours in Vietnam where he earned several medals. In 1978, he retired at Ft. Eustis after reaching the rank of sergeant and having served honorably for 23 years.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn; his three children, Donna, David and Carol Jean; his grandchildren, A.J. and Megan Caputo; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aidan, Isabella, Robbie and Princess Ryan.

Greg enjoyed many hobbies after his service, including woodworking, gardening and loving and caring for his wife. He was truly a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg.
