Tabb’s girls soccer team was rewarded for an outstanding season by receiving the two highest honors in Conference 19: Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.

Junior Leah Tyson, who scored a team-high 22 goals for the Tigers while adding seven assists, was named Conference 19 Player of the Year on Monday.

Tabb Coach Kelle Shiflett was also dubbed Conference 19 Coach of the Year for helping navigate the Tigers to a 12-3-1 record that includes a still-ongoing postseason run.

Four other Tabb players were named first-team All-Conference 19 selections – midfielder Madalynn Grounds, midfielder Izzy Solaroli, defender Lakaiah Robinson and defender Natalie Stratton.

Nine of Historic Triangle players were first-team selections, five coming from Jamestown and four from Grafton.

The five Jamestown first-team selections were forward Morgan Connell, midfielder Shannon Fitzgerald, midfielder Peyton Helbert, defender Maddie Clevinger and goalkeeper Juliette Sim.

Connell led the Eagles with a team-high 16 goals, while Sim allowed just six goals against Bay Rivers District opponents with 89 total saves for the year.

“We just think it speaks highly of how hard all these girls have worked all year,” Jamestown coach Michelle Dawson said. “They came together and did what they needed to do to play on Jamestown’s roster.”

Grafton forward Malia Valentine, midfielder Sophia Beaudoin, defender Jaimie Brown and defender Julia Larsen rounded out the Historic Triangle’s presence on the first-team roster.
