Jamestown senior Jeff Wolons was recognized as Conference 19 Player of the Year for his record-breaking performance this season for the Eagles.

Wolons shattered the Jamestown single-season scoring record, 37, with 43 goals on the season to this point. Wolons also has nine assists to round out his offensive production this season.

“Words don’t do it justice, the way he’s playing right now,” Jamestown Coach Bobby O’Brien said of Wolons.

“The doubles teams, the triple teams, the man-marking with the other teams’ best players and he’s still able to score two or three goals a game. I grew up playing high school in this area in the 90s and 2000s, I’ve never seen anyone do what he’s doing at the high school level in this entire Peninsula area.”

O’Brien was also named Conference 19 Coach of the Year for leading the Eagles to a conference championship and an ongoing run in the 4A South tournament, though he said the award is less about him and more about his players.

Four more of O’Brien’s players – forward Duncan McDevitt, midfielder Ben Carper, midfielder Kevin Tripp and defender Wilson Coughenour – were named to the All-Conference 19 first team.

Tabb and Grafton each placed three players on the All-Conference 19 first team.

For the Tigers, forward Allen Blair, midfielder Derek Cook and defender Matt Montgomery were all recognized as first-teamers. Grafton midfielder Dylan Lorio-MacNamara, defender Niahan Moomjian and goalkeeper Jay Fox were also first-team selections.
