Myrtle Virginia Shields Stephens died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the age of 91.

Myrtle was a native and lifelong resident of York County. She was a member of Yorkminster Presbyterian Church in Yorktown. She was past worthy matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Yorktown Chapter 110. She was a volunteer with the York County Bargain Box and member of the Home Demonstration Club of Yorktown. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Otis and her sisters and brothers, Nellie Owens, Annie Page, Arthur Shields, Coleman Shields, Harvey Shields and Raymond Shields.

She is survived by her children, Douglas A. Stephens (Linda), of Providence, Rhode Island, Joanna Miele (William), of Cleveland, James A. Stephens, of Marathon, Florida, Stuart M. Stephens (Samantha), of Mountain City, Tennessee and Amy M. Barlowe (Charles), of Etna, New Hampshire. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at Yorkminster Presbyterian Church in Yorktown. The family will receive friends following the service at the church fellowship hall. A private graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park.
