Soggy conditions could not keep Tabb from advancing in the 4A South tournament Monday, earning a 4-0 home win against Deep Creek in the regional quarterfinals.
The game began with a costly header by Leah Tyson, who out-muscled the Deep Creek goalkeeper for the game’s opening goal with 28:16 remaining in the first half.
Both Tyson and the Deep Creek goalie were shaken up on the play and both were taken out of the game before later returning.
Three minutes later, Tabb’s Madalynn Grounds finished a header in the back of the net off a corner kick from Natalie Stratton to put Tabb ahead 2-0.
Sarah Mueller chipped in a goal for the Tigers with 2:40 left in the first half after finishing a through ball from Tyson, who re-entered the game following her injury.
Tabb’s second half goal came nine minutes into the second half as Haley Thompson put back a missed shot from Jasmine Bryant to give the Tigers a 4-0 advantage.
In the second half, rain and lightning forced repeated postponements of the game until the game was called shortly before 10 p.m.
The win means Tabb (12-3-1) will advance to the 4A South semifinals against Nansemond River on Wednesday with a chance to reach the state tournament with a win.

Jamestown Overtakes Woodrow Wilson in Second Half
After falling behind 1-0 to Woodrow Wilson, Jamestown scored back-to-back goals in the second half to earn a 2-1 road win in the 4A South quarterfinal.
The Eagles trailed at halftime 1-0 thanks to a Cher Jamison goal that put Woodrow Wilson on top early.
Jamestown controlled the pace of play in the second half, getting goals from Morgan Connell and Maddie Clevinger with an assist from Peyton Helbert.
The win means Jamestown (9-4-4) will advance to the 4A South semifinal Wednesday where the Eagles will likely take on Midlothian, who led King’s Fork 5-0 on Monday before the game was postponed due to weather.

Lafayette Cruises Past George Wythe
The Lafayette girls soccer team built a 6-0 lead over George Wythe before Monday’s 3A East quarterfinal matchup was called with 35 minutes left in the second half due to lightning.
Because of their lead in the second half, the Rams tally the win.
Before the game was called, Carson Pokorny and Kirstie Peterson each recorded a pair of goals for Lafayette. Hannah Potter and Makayla Blake also added goals for the Rams.
Shaylee Ruescher, Grace Macomber, Peyton Kilgore, Alyssa Hogan and Alexis Swanson each logged assists for the Rams in the win.
The Rams built a 5-0 halftime lead before adding a quick goal in the second half prior to the game being called due to weather.
Lafayette (12-3) will now advance to Wednesday’s 3A East semifinal where the Rams will host the winner of Loudoun Valley and Brentsville.

York's girls soccer team took down Hopewell 3-0 on the road in Monday's 3A East quarterfinal.
The win means York (9-5-4) will take on John Champe in Wednesday's 3A East semifinal with a chance to clinch a berth in the state tournament.
