Despite trailing 2-0 early to York, Lafayette battled back to force penalty kicks in the Conference 25 championship Thursday.

Lafayette's Grace Macomber scored both goals for the Rams in regulation to help force overtime, during which neither team found the back of the net.

The Rams proved effective during the penalty shootout, making their first four shots.

Lafayette goalkeeper Megan Roberts came up big in the shootout, recording a save that opened the door for a Rams victory.

With the game on the line, Hannah Potter stepped to the line and scored the game-winning penalty kick, giving Lafayette the conference championship.

Both York (7-5-4) and Lafayette (11-3) will advance to the 3A East tournament, which begins Monday.

Tabb Blanks Grafton in Conference 19 Semifinals

The Tabb girls soccer team defeated Grafton 2-0 at home Thursday in the Conference 19 semifinals.

The game was postponed after storms Wednesday, and even featured a brief delay Thursday due to storms in the area.

Tabb's Madalynn Grounds opened the scoring Wednesday with 19:10 left in the first half after trapping a ball with her chest and volleying the ball on net. A miscommunication between Grafton defenders allowed the ball to bounce over the Grafton keeper, bringing the score to 1-0.

Play resumed Thursday with 42 seconds left in the first half. With 21:19 left to play in the second half, Lakaiah Robinson delivered a rocket from outside the box into the upper-90 area of the goal to put the Tigers up 2-0, which would end up as the final.

Grafton's (9-6) season comes to a close one win shy of reaching the Conference 19 championship game and earning a regional berth.

Tabb (10-3-1) will host Jamestown for the Conference 19 championship at 7 p.m. Friday.
