After Jamestown’s regular season match with Midlothian was suspended, the Eagles finally got their rematch in the 4A South championship Friday.

Jamestown fought valiantly, but in the end came up on the losing end of a 5-2 decision.

A big blow to Jamestown’s chances came in the No. 4 singles match, where Rohan Kohli lost a tough three-set match that would have split the singles score at 3-3.

Despite losing in the championship match, Jamestown Coach Bob Artis said he was pleased with his team’s performance and looks forward to seeing how his boys compete in the state tournament.

“I thought my team gave their absolute best effort,” he said. “We’re a very young team. If you had told me at the beginning of the season this team would be at the regional finals and qualified for states, I’d say we had an outstanding year.”

The Eagles (16-1) will visit the winner of the 4A North championship match between EC Glass and Loudoun County on June 8 in the opening round of the state tournament.
