Zelma Cutler Samos, of Yorktown, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 57.

She was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Washington, North Carolina, the daughter of Inez Warren Johnson and the late Oler Cutler Jr.  Zelma had a wonderful love of animals and she also loved to cook.

Her memory was left to be cherished by her loving husband of 28 years, Harry Samos; stepchildren, Mike Samos and Christi Byrd; grandchildren, Austin and Camden Byrd and Rylan, Caroline and Emmeline Samos; sister, Carol Willard and husband, Sam; nephew, Shawn Jackson; a great-niece, Emily Jackson; and her furry son, Sam and parrot Chico.

A viewing, to include a Trisagion service, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Services will be conducted at noon Monday, June 1, 2015, at the church with burial to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
