The Grafton girls tennis team saw its season come to an end at home Wednesday, as the Clippers dropped a 5-1 decision to Hanover in the 4A South semifinals.

Annie Cao earned the only win for Grafton, which came in the No. 6 singles match.

Grafton’s season (10-5) concludes short of the Clippers securing a bid for the state team tournament.

Though her team lost, Winnie Zhang will compete in the 4A South singles tournament that begins on Monday.

Jamestown Ousted From Regional Semifinals by Midlothian

A rematch from the regular season had similar results the second time around, as Midlothian defeated Jamestown 5-1 in the 4A South semifinals Wednesday.

The loss means the Eagles (13-3), who lost two of their final three matches, fall just short of reaching the 4A state tournament.

Jamestown will still have players in the postseason. Anna Walter will compete in the 4A South singles tournament and two Jamestown doubles team will participate in the 4A South doubles tournament, both which begin Monday.
