Robert A. Lanna, of Williamsburg, passed away on May 23, 2015. He was 80.
Bob was a resident of Windsor Meade in Williamsburg. Bob was a graduate of Hartwick College located in Oneonta, New York. His illustrious insurance career included executive positions at major insurance companies, partner at The Dowler Agency on Long Island, New York and as founder and sole-proprietor of Personal Financial Services in New Canaan, Connecticut.
Bob served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was actively involved in community service and furthered the causes of many charitable organizations, including his service as a board member at ABC House of New Canaan, Connecticut and as President of the Mental Health Association of Nassau County, where he was named Man of the Year. Bob also understood the importance of youth sports and coached many seasons of Little League baseball and was Founder and President of the RVC Junior Tennis League.
Bob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis and paddle tennis. He was a long-time member of the Lake Club in Wilton, Connecticut.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Lanna; children, Chris Lanna, Susan Fitzgerald and her husband Tony, and John Lanna; and grandchildren, Jennifer Lanna, Stephen Lanna, Will Fitzgerald, Katie Fitzgerald and Kaitlyn Lanna.
A memorial mass will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, May 29, 2015 at Saint Bede Catholic Church, Williamsburg. You may offer condolences to the family at www.nelsencares.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg.
