Alexis Gore shut down the Jamestown offense to lead Tabb to a 5-1 home victory in the opening round of the Conference 19 tournament Friday.
The Tigers jumped out in front early thanks to an RBI single from Ashtyn Clark in the bottom of the first inning. Later that inning, Clark scored on a passed ball to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Tabb tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third. Clark started the scoring off, blasting a triple into the outfield that sent home Ashley Adams. Clark would find home thanks to a Kendall Wooddell RBI single, bringing Tabb’s lead to 4-0.
Jamestown’s Jamiyah Johnson scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the fourth inning, but Tabb responded in the bottom of the fourth with a run of its own.
The loss brings Jamestown’s season (3-18) to a close, while Tabb (11-10) advances to the Conference 19 semifinals for which they will travel to take on top-seeded Smithfield on Tuesday.
