York’s girls tennis team took home Conference 25 singles and doubles titles Friday.

Gaby Tersigni defeated teammate Kristin Dantzler 6-4, 6-3 in the singles championship match.

The two teamed up in the doubles finals to take on Lafayette’s duo of Tawni Hatcher and Abby Johnson. Tersigni and Dantzler cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory, earning York its second Conference 25 championship of the day.

Both Tersigni and Dantzler will advance to the 4A South singles tournament, while both York and Lafayette will have their doubles teams advance to the regional tournament.

York’s tennis team will continue postseason play in the 4A South team tournament on the road against Hopewell on Monday.

Jamestown Doubles Teams to Face Off in Conference 19 Finals

Both of Jamestown’s doubles teams reached the finals of the Conference 19 doubles tournament.

Anna Walter and Britney Herard, Jamestown’s No. 1 doubles team, will square off against Katie Hunt and Alisha Kohli in the championship match, which will be held Monday at Kiwanis Park.

The tournament could not be completed on Monday due to a Virginia High School League rule that states a tennis player cannot play in more than three matches in a day.

Hunt and Kohli, who began the tournament in the play-in round, won their play-in match and won matches in the quarterfinals and semifinals, forcing the tournament to be pushed back to Monday.
