Both Jamestown doubles teams reached the Conference 19 doubles finals Friday.

The championship match was forced to move to Monday because of a Virginia High School League rule that states a tennis player cannot play in more than three matches in one day.

Jamestown’s No. 2 doubles team of Rohan Kohli and Brad Mahaffey, who will face off against Jamestown’s No. 1 team of Derrick Neilson and Grayson DeBerry, won three matches on Friday to reach the championship match.

York Falls Short in Singles, Doubles Conference Finals

York’s boys tennis teams had to settle for a pair of runner-up finishes in Friday’s Conference 25 singles and doubles finals.

In singles, Colonial Heights’ Jonathan Hartson defeated York’s Josh McFadden 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 to claim the singles title.

In doubles, York was once again bested by Colonial Heights. The Falcons duo of McFadden and Walter Buck was defeated 6-4, 6-1 by the Colonial Heights pairing of Hartson and Yaser Qazi.

McFadden will compete in the 4A South singles tournament, while York’s doubles team will also reach the regional round.
