Nan Carol Rader, of Yorktown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, returned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, following a sudden illness. She was 72.

She was a native of Poquoson and member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Nellie West Insley.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald W. Rader; two loving children, Joy Rader Ellis and husband Chester and Robert J. Rader; grandchildren, Kristen Ellis-Cooke, Meagan K. Ellis, Sydney E. Rader and Rebekah Ferrell; great-grandchild, Blake Taylor Ellis; special cousins, Dot and Roy Davis; special lifelong friends, Diane Edwards and Margaret Cockrell; and many other nieces, nephews and close friends.

A graveside service to celebrate Nan’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, conducted by the Rev. Carol Bookwalter. Everyone is invited back to her home following the service.
