The Lafayette boys and girls track teams earned first place during Tuesday's Conference 25 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which were held at New Kent High.

Lafayette's girls team blew away the competition, outpacing second-place Warhill by 135 points. York, the last of the local schools in the conference, finished in sixth place with 23 points.

The Lady Rams won 12 of 17 events during the meet, while meet records in eight events.

Lafayette's Audrey Hurley claimed first in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, setting a meet record in the 400 with a time of 59.93.

Hurley's teammate, Alex Brender A' Brandis, won the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. Brender A' Brandis set a meet record in the long jump with a jump of 16-feet, 10 1/4-inches.

Warhill's Miriam Buscher set a season-best time and meet record in the 1,600-meter run by finishing in 5:19.34.

In the boys competition, Lafayette edged New Kent for first place by 26 points. Warhill finished third, while York took fifth.

Lafayette's Rashawn Smith earned wins in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, breaking a meet record in the latter.

Three more Rams set meet records for the boys competition: Konrad Steck in the 3,200-meter run, Micah Canaday in the 110-meter hurdles and Michael Tyler in the high jump.

York's Ryan Born set the meet record in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 41.62, while Warhill's 4x400 relay team set a meet record in a time of 3:28.18.

Another Falcon set a meet record as Myles Brown set a new meet mark in the triple jump. Warhill's Brian Stovall took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.56.

The next meet for the three Historic Triangle schools — Lafayette, Warhill and York — will be the Group 3A East Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championship scheduled for May 27 at Culpeper County High.
