Lafayette and Warhill struggled to find momentum Monday evening as both teams fought against the heat, but the Rams came out ahead with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Neither team found much offense, with both teams combining for five shots on goal, but the one goal that was scored proved to be worth the wait.

Lafayette’s Tobi Yanez flicked the ball to Reeves Trott, who collected the ball on the left side of the field. Trott cut the ball inside and ripped a shot past the Warhill keeper with 15 minutes left in the first half.

The remainder of the game was played in the midfield, with neither team able to string together legitimate scoring opportunities.

Lafayette Coach Brian Sorrell said it was the first time either team has played in that type of heat this season and both teams were clearly sluggish because of it.

Warhill (5-4-2) and Lafayette (9-3-2) will now await the matchups in the Conference 25 tournament.

Lafayette 1, Warhill 0
