Puppies and kittens will take to the Linda Matney Fine Art Gallery in James City County on Saturday as part of a three-hour fundraising event for York County’s Heritage Humane Society.

Donations are encouraged at the door to help support the nonprofit animal shelter. A portion of the proceeds from art sales will also be donated to the shelter through July 7.

Adopatble pets will be on site from 2 to 4 p.m.

Attendees will also get a chance to check out Lucid Dreamer, a series of mixed media paintings and photographic images by artist Linda Mitchell. The work incorporates fabric, wood, glass and found objects on top of the paint and photographs.

Work from Bruton High School teacher Helen Lowery will also be displayed during the event.

While donations are suggested, the fundraiser is free and open to the public. It runs from 2 to 5:30 p.m., and refreshments will be served.

The event is also sponsored by Mermaid Books. A portion of sales from the Williamsburg bookstore will also go to the animal shelter.

The Linda Matney Fine Art Gallery, located at 5435 Richmond Road, is tucked behind the Shops at Carolina Furniture. For more information, call 675-6627.
